Secret Service PROBES Band After Trump Stage Execution

Federal agents have launched an investigation into Virginia heavy metal band GWAR after the group performed a mock execution of President Donald Trump during a Washington, D.C. concert, marking a sharp departure from how authorities handled similar acts targeting previous presidents.

Band Confirms Federal Scrutiny

GWAR vocalist Mike Bishop, performing as Blothar The Berserker, confirmed the Secret Service contacted the band following their Warped Tour performance earlier this month. The theatrical display featured band members dragging a Trump effigy onstage, disemboweling it, and spraying fake blood over the audience. Bishop stated his band is now on federal watchlists, contrasting this with zero government response when they performed identical mock killings of President Obama. Video clips from the concert went viral in conservative circles, sparking widespread outrage among MAGA supporters.

The 80-year-old president has survived three assassination attempts since 2024, heightening sensitivity around potential threats to his safety. Secret Service protocols have tightened considerably, with agents now investigating actions previously dismissed as protected artistic expression. The band characterized the federal response as politically motivated censorship, arguing they have staged similar executions of hundreds of public figures across both political parties for decades without government interference.

Decades of Theatrical Violence

GWAR built its reputation on grotesque sci-fi costumes and blood-soaked performances mocking politicians, celebrities, and cultural institutions. Guitarist Mike Derks explained in a 2022 interview that targeting whoever holds presidential office represents the band’s longstanding anti-authority message. The group has performed mock killings of political figures from both parties throughout their career, treating the presidency itself as their antagonist rather than specific individuals. Their theatrical violence serves as political satire rather than genuine threats, fans and band members argue.

Escalating Political Tensions

The investigation reflects broader tensions around political expression and presidential security. Former FBI Director James Comey faced federal charges after posting a photo of seashells arranged as numbers 8647, which prosecutors interpreted as threatening the 47th president. Comey apologized and claimed ignorance of the threatening interpretation, but the Justice Department pursued charges regardless. Bishop noted that political backlash against artistic expression intensified dramatically when Trump first entered office, transforming previously ignored performances into federal cases. Neither the Secret Service nor White House provided comment on the GWAR investigation when contacted.
