ICE HUNTS Violent Criminals Nationwide Amid Funding Breakdown

Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested dangerous criminals nationwide over the weekend, including a violent gang member, child predators, and rapists, even as the agency operates without congressional funding and deploys officers to assist understaffed airport security checkpoints across the nation.

Weekend Enforcement Operations Continue

Despite an ongoing funding lapse triggered by congressional disagreements over immigration policy, ICE officers arrested multiple serious offenders in coordinated operations spanning California to New York. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that enforcement teams apprehended individuals convicted of crimes ranging from sexual assault of minors to drug trafficking and gang violence. Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis stated the agency will continue arresting public safety threats regardless of Democratic opposition.

In California alone, six criminal illegal aliens faced arrest, including Luis Calderon-Martinez, identified as a member of the Salvadoran MS-13 gang with multiple felony convictions across three states for drug distribution, carjacking, and hit-and-run incidents. Officers also detained Angel Navarro-Camarillo, a registered sex offender and active gang member convicted of lewd acts with a child under 14, and Higinio Gonzalez Machorro, convicted of drug-facilitated rape.

Dual Mission at Major Airports

ICE agents maintained a visible presence at airports in New York City, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Atlanta, and New Orleans while assisting the Transportation Security Administration with screening duties. Border czar Tom Homan told CBS News that agents will continue supporting airport operations until TSA reaches full operational capacity. In the New York area, officers arrested Pierre Bell, a Jamaican national convicted of rape in the Bronx, while working at Kennedy, LaGuardia, and Newark airports.

In Houston, where airports experienced significant delays, ICE arrested Jose Santos Vigil-Mendez and Jorge Luis Carrera-Hernandez, both convicted of deadly conduct charges. Meanwhile, in Alexandria, Virginia, officers apprehended Pedro Antonio Luna, convicted of three counts of aggravated sexual battery against victims under 13 years old, including a family member under 15.

Congressional Standoff Continues

The enforcement operations proceed as Homeland Security faces a funding lapse stemming from Democratic demands for changes to ICE and border operations before releasing appropriations. Democrats have made resuming department funding contingent on modifications to immigration enforcement protocols. The standoff leaves the agency operating in uncertain financial territory while maintaining what officials describe as critical public safety missions targeting violent criminals and sexual predators living illegally in American communities.
