ISIS ATTACK PLOT Against MILITARY BASE Stopped By Federal Agents

Federal agents stopped a planned ISIS attack on a Michigan military installation just hours before execution, arresting a 19-year-old former National Guard soldier who provided weapons and conducted drone surveillance of the target facility.

Former Guardsman Charged With ISIS Terror Plot

The suspect enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard in September 2022, completed basic training, and received a discharge in December 2024 for failing to meet initial entry requirements. Federal prosecutors charged him with planning a mass casualty attack on the TACOM military base in Warren, Michigan. The defendant allegedly pledged allegiance to ISIS leadership in videos while standing before the terrorist organization’s flag, according to court documents filed in the case.

Detailed Attack Planning Revealed

The suspect provided undercover federal agents, whom he believed were fellow ISIS supporters, with armor-piercing ammunition and high-capacity magazines, prosecutors stated. He launched drone reconnaissance flights over the TACOM base, trained the undercover officers on firearms operation, demonstrated construction of Molotov cocktails, and mapped facility entry points while identifying specific buildings to maximize casualties. Communications with undercover agents began in June 2024, with the defendant expressing his desire to carry out violent attacks either overseas or on American soil.

Attack Foiled On Execution Day

The plot against the Warren military base escalated in November 2024. On the morning of the planned attack, the suspect traveled to the area near TACOM and launched his drone to support the operation before federal agents took him into custody. Sue J. Bai, head of the Justice Department’s National Security Division, confirmed the charges. U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon Jr. for the Eastern District of Michigan emphasized that assisting ISIS or any terrorist organization represents a threat to national security and the American way of life.

National Security Implications

The case raises concerns about potential security vulnerabilities within military recruitment and the broader threat of radicalized individuals operating inside the United States. The defendant had access to military training and facilities through his National Guard service, highlighting potential gaps in screening and monitoring procedures. The successful interdiction demonstrates the value of undercover operations in identifying and stopping domestic terror threats before they materialize into actual violence against American military personnel and installations.
