Representative Thomas Massie faces a heavily funded primary challenge after leading efforts to release Jeffrey Epstein files, with opponents raising $2 million to defeat the Kentucky Republican who refuses to back down from his transparency mission.
Super PAC Targets Congressman
The MAGA KY super PAC collected $2 million between June 19 and 30 last year, according to Federal Election Committee filings. Hedge fund owner Paul Singer contributed $1 million, while John Paulson donated $250,000. Massie claims these donors target him specifically because of his role in the bipartisan coalition demanding Epstein file releases. The congressman alleges Paulson’s name appears in Epstein’s contact log, known as the “black book.”

Massie wrote on social media Saturday that he cannot be bullied and remains committed to his mission despite the mounting opposition. He stated that powerful interests are working to defeat him because of his transparency efforts. Within hours of the latest Epstein file release, the super PAC purchased an additional $800,000 in television advertisements targeting his reelection campaign.
Legislative Victory and Trump Opposition
Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act through Massie’s efforts, taking effect on November 19. The law requires the Justice Department to release all files from its Epstein investigation, with exceptions protecting victim privacy. The department released 3 million additional documents, missing Congress’s December 19 deadline due to the massive document volume requiring review.
President Trump endorsed retired Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein against Massie, calling him “A WINNER WHO WILL NOT LET KENTUCKY DOWN” while labeling Massie a “third-rate congressman.” Massie attributed the criticism to his refusal to support foreign aid, deficit spending, and military interventions abroad.

Constitutional Stand
The Kentucky legislator defended his transparency push and urged voters to examine their representatives’ positions on Epstein file releases. He warned that lawmakers remaining silent or dismissing the files as unimportant should face electoral consequences. Massie emphasized his commitment to exposing corruption and sex trafficking networks, regardless of political pressure or financial opposition from wealthy donors seeking to silence his efforts.
