Hammer Attack KILLS Politician — Terror Probe Widens

A leftist activist brutally murdered British pro-life leader Ann Widdecombe in her own kitchen, striking the 78-year-old politician 21 times with a hammer while surveillance cameras captured every horrific moment of the assassination.

Kitchen Camera Captures Savage Attack

Joshua Kerry entered Widdecombe’s Devon home on July 10 wearing black gloves and carrying a hammer while the Reform U.K. immigration spokeswoman ate lunch. Prosecutor Kashif Malik revealed in court Tuesday that Kerry asked about bank cards before launching his deadly assault. The surveillance footage shows Kerry striking Widdecombe atop the head 21 times, caving in her skull, then pushing her lifeless body from the chair to the floor. He stole her wallet and fled. The victim’s gardener discovered her body the following day.

Kerry initially faced arrest for murder in what police believed was a burglary gone wrong. Authorities released him the next day, only to re-arrest him hours later at his Rotherham home. This time, Counter Terrorism Policing North East and South Yorkshire Police charged him with murder and suspected acts of terrorism. Frank Ferguson, chief prosecutor of the Crown Prosecution Service Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, announced Monday that prosecutors had determined sufficient evidence existed to bring murder charges.

Investigators Uncover Political Motive

Lawrence Taylor, head of National Counter Terrorism Policing, confirmed investigators uncovered new information and evidence indicating the murder was a targeted attack rather than a random home invasion. Police continue investigating Kerry’s motives, including potential political or terrorist connections. Sources identified Kerry as a hard-left activist, raising questions about whether Widdecombe’s prominent pro-life advocacy and conservative political positions made her a target. The 78-year-old Christian politician served as Reform U.K.’s immigration spokeswoman and maintained a decades-long career championing traditional values in British politics.

What This Means

The assassination represents a chilling escalation of political violence against conservative leaders. Widdecombe dedicated her life to defending the unborn and advocating for immigration reform, positions that made her a lightning rod for leftist opposition. The premeditated nature of the attack, combined with the suspect’s alleged political background, raises serious concerns about growing extremism targeting right-leaning public figures. Kerry appeared in court Tuesday but was instructed not to enter a plea as the investigation continues. Prosecutors worked closely with police to establish their case, though authorities have not yet revealed the full extent of evidence linking the murder to political terrorism.
