Tony Rodham came under FBI investigation while working for East European Imports, Inc., a Florida-based company. According to the released documents, company staff members including Rodham approached American auto dealers requesting $69,900 in upfront payments to purchase Romanian ARO SUVs and Jeeps. Federal investigators questioned whether the company ever held a legitimate contract with the Romanian government or manufacturers to import these vehicles.

The FBI documents revealed a critical finding: no ARO vehicles were ever imported by the company from Romania for sale in the United States. Investigators suspected the operation constituted potential fraud, with concerns that Rodham was leveraging his sister’s political influence to secure alleged importation rights on behalf of the company. Tony Rodham passed away in 2019 at age 64.

Pattern of Controversial Dealings

The revelations about Tony Rodham add to a history of scrutiny surrounding Hillary Clinton’s siblings. Both Tony and brother Hugh Rodham raised concerns from former National Security Advisor Samuel Berger after spending nine days in Russia meeting with a political opponent of Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, a U.S. ally, to pursue a hazelnut import deal.

Tony Rodham also received $325,000 after allegedly requesting that President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton pardon two convicted Tennessee bank fraudsters. He later claimed the payments were loans unrelated to the clemency efforts. These incidents repeatedly placed Hillary Clinton under indirect political scrutiny through her family connections.

Document Release After Two-Decade Delay

Conservative organization Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit against the FBI in December 2025 after the agency allegedly withheld more than 13,000 pages of documents, including audio and video evidence from the Rodham investigation. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton criticized the FBI’s handling of the case, stating the records reveal a criminal investigation involving Clinton’s brother and raise serious questions about what remains hidden in government files about both Tony Rodham and Hillary Clinton herself.
