Prime Minister RECEIVES Medical Exam in Jail

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan underwent a court-ordered eye examination at Adiala Jail, but his political party and family rejected the medical procedure, claiming authorities deliberately excluded his personal physicians and relatives from the process.

Medical Examination Under Dispute

A five-member medical team conducted the detailed examination following a Supreme Court order. The doctors collected blood samples, measured Khan’s blood pressure, and brought specialized equipment for the hour-long procedure. The examination began after a two-and-a-half-hour delay, with officials expected to compile a comprehensive medical report soon.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party leaders issued a statement calling the government’s approach malicious and questioning why family members and Khan’s chosen doctors were barred from attending. The party argued that constitutional and legal rights require family involvement in sensitive medical decisions, especially when the patient cannot make fully informed choices about his healthcare.

Family Demands Personal Doctor Access

Khan’s sister Aleema Khanum rejected any medical board established without approval from his personal physicians. She stated the family would not accept treatment plans developed without their doctors present and questioned why authorities showed fierce resistance to including family-recommended medical professionals. Reports suggest Khan might be transferred to Al-Shifa Eye Hospital in Rawalpindi for additional treatment.

Khanum challenged the exclusion of both family members and Khan’s medical team, asking whether authorities were hiding something by preventing independent medical oversight. The family maintains they will not accept any medical reports or treatment recommendations produced without their participation in the examination process.

Political Tensions Over Medical Care

The dispute highlights broader tensions between Khan’s supporters and Pakistani authorities over his treatment while incarcerated. The former prime minister faces multiple legal challenges, and his party continues advocating for his rights as a detained political figure. This medical examination controversy adds another layer to ongoing disputes about Khan’s jail conditions and access to proper healthcare while awaiting legal proceedings.
