A Florida pet daycare owner faces 21 criminal charges after employees discovered a hidden camera in the business bathroom, capturing footage of multiple women and at least one child in various stages of undress.
Hidden Camera Discovery Leads to Arrest
Donald Hemphill, 59, owner of Dog Dayz Inn in New Smyrna Beach, was arrested and booked into the Volusia County jail on September 8, 2026. The charges include 10 counts of digital voyeurism and 11 counts of video voyeurism of a child. Employees at the pet daycare facility found the recording device hidden inside an electrical outlet on Saturday, immediately alerting authorities to the disturbing discovery.
During questioning by Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies, Hemphill admitted to installing the concealed camera approximately four to five months prior to its discovery. Detectives who examined his cell phone uncovered multiple video files showing several females in the bathroom, including footage of at least one minor. The investigation revealed a pattern of surveillance that allegedly spanned several months at the commercial facility.
Business Operations Suspended Indefinitely
Dog Dayz Inn has ceased all operations following the owner’s arrest.
