CEO Family SHOT, Hammered — Masked Intruders Escape

Three masked intruders shot a real estate executive and his family during a violent home invasion at their multi-million-dollar Toronto residence, leaving two victims with life-altering injuries as the suspects escaped with potentially stolen valuables.

Violent Attack Leaves Family Wounded

David Morton, chief executive of the MAC Group, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg when armed intruders breached his home in Toronto’s exclusive Bridle Path neighborhood early Thursday morning. The attackers shot one of Morton’s daughters in the leg and another daughter under the arm. His wife, Doriana Zohil-Morton, sustained serious injuries after being struck with a hammer during the violent confrontation.

Toronto Police Inspector Kristy Smith confirmed the intruders forced entry through a locked back door. The suspects fired their weapons multiple times during a struggle with the family and demanded valuables from inside the residence. Police have not yet determined whether the attackers successfully stole any items before fleeing the scene in a sport utility vehicle.

Community Shaken by Brazen Crime

The attack occurred in one of Toronto’s most affluent neighborhoods, where luxury estates line quiet streets typically insulated from violent crime. Inspector Smith acknowledged the targeted nature of the invasion, stating that an affluent area where residents possess sought-after valuables likely motivated the robbery. Police currently lack detailed descriptions of the three suspects, complicating the investigation as authorities work to identify those responsible.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed deep concern about the brazen assault, calling the violence unacceptable in the city. She emphasized that residents must feel safe in their own homes and pledged full support for police investigators working to hold the perpetrators accountable. The mayor extended prayers for the family’s recovery, acknowledging the incident has shaken both the neighborhood and residents across Toronto.

Rising Home Security Concerns

The violent home invasion highlights growing concerns about residential security even in upscale communities. Inspector Smith stressed that people should feel safe in their homes, recognizing how frightening and disturbing such incidents prove for victims and surrounding communities. The case remains under active investigation as detectives pursue leads to identify and apprehend the three suspects who carried out the armed attack. Authorities continue appealing for public assistance with information about the crime or the suspects’ whereabouts.
