Horrific Carnage — 4 DEAD in Halloween Shootings

Four people were killed and at least 15 others wounded when three separate shootings erupted across Dallas’s Deep Ellum entertainment district late Halloween night, transforming a festive celebration into a scene of chaos and bloodshed that has city officials scrambling for answers.

Three Shootings Within 75 Minutes

The violence began at approximately 12:20 a.m. near the 2600 block of Elm Street, according to Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux. Less than an hour later, at 1:05 a.m., gunfire erupted on the 2600 block of Main Street. The third shooting started at 1:35 a.m. on the 200 block of South Crowdus Street, completing a deadly 75-minute span that left the popular nightlife district reeling.

Dallas Police sources revealed to local station WFAA that at one location, a man allegedly announced he was going to start shooting before opening fire. At least three victims were killed at that single scene, sources confirmed. Police officers already stationed in the entertainment district responded immediately to each incident as the situation unfolded.

Suspect Captured, Another Sought

Authorities have taken one suspect into custody and are actively searching for at least one additional shooter. Chief Comeaux emphasized during a Sunday press conference that investigators are working to determine whether the three incidents are connected. At this time, detectives have found no evidence linking the shootings, but the investigation continues as officers piece together witness statements and evidence from each crime scene.

The injured victim count stands at 15 but could increase significantly, Comeaux warned. Several wounded individuals transported themselves to area hospitals rather than waiting for emergency responders, making an accurate count difficult. Police are coordinating with medical facilities to track all victims connected to the Halloween violence.

City Leaders Demand Action

Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson condemned the violence as unacceptable and called for new strategies to secure Deep Ellum. The historic neighborhood has long served as a gathering place for residents but has faced ongoing safety challenges. City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert pledged continued investigation and promised justice for victims and their families. Both officials emphasized their commitment to making Deep Ellum safe while maintaining its role as a cultural hub for Dallas residents.
